and prosperity?

Date to be announced

Central Westminster, London

The main focus of the conference will be:

  • The loss of identity and belonging related to declining economic control and a fraying social fabric which many people feel;

  • The need to create new homes and places which are sustainable, popular, affordable where they need to be and supportive of resident’s health and well-being;

  • The fact that many towns and neighbourhoods feel they have been hollowed out and stripped of the institutions that sustain local connection and togetherness;

  • The concern that public policy, investments and local development have often accelerated rather than mitigated this breakdown, undermining social capital or isolating residents; and

  • That these phenomena are true of poorer places and of more prosperous ones, of rural areas as well as towns, and afflict educated enclaves as well some of the most marginalised in society. And wherever it occurs, it has seismic implications for our politics.
