ABOUT THE EVENT /
The free conference will be an online programme of talks, discussions, presentations, site visits and a co-design programme. It will be “dip in and out” over three days from the afternoon of 21st September to lunchtime on 23rd September.
We will be considering key strategic themes facing development, planning, ‘place-making’ and regeneration.
While the conversations will reflect the COVID-19 pandemic and the recent Planning for the Future Government white paper. However we will also consider the ‘long view’ and take advantage of our virtual status to bring you an international programme.
PROGRAMME /
The conversation will be broadly split into three themes: ‘levelling-up’, place-making and planning. Key questions include:
Theme one: Levelling up
-
Still levelling up?
-
Big capital or little platoons?
-
Economic infrastructure or social infrastructure?
Theme two: Place-making
-
Have we reached peak city?
-
Is there another identity politics?
-
Can we bounce back better?
-
High streets: is this the end or a new beginning?
-
Can modular homes be beautiful?
-
Micro-mobility: ‘flash in the pan’ or permanent change?
Theme three: Planning
-
Planning for the Future: beauty or zoning?
-
The end of paper planning?
-
